Theo k\u1ebft qu\u1ea3 cu\u1ed9c kh\u1ea3o s\u00e1t Nh\u1eadn th\u1ee9c v\u00e0 h\u00e0nh vi ti\u00eau d\u00f9ng xanh 2024, c\u00f3 t\u1edbi 59% ng\u01b0\u1eddi ti\u00eau d\u00f9ng cho bi\u1ebft h\u1ecd s\u1ebd gia t\u0103ng s\u1eed d\u1ee5ng s\u1ea3n ph\u1ea9m xanh v\u00e0 ti\u00eau d\u00f9ng xanh trong th\u1eddi gian t\u1edbi (H\u1ed9i doanh nghi\u1ec7p H\u00e0ng Vi\u1ec7t Nam ch\u1ea5t l\u01b0\u1ee3ng cao, 2024). \u0110i\u1ec1u n\u00e0y cho th\u1ea5y ti\u1ec1m n\u0103ng chuy\u1ec3n \u0111\u1ed5i sinh th\u00e1i x\u00e3 h\u1ed9i theo h\u01b0\u1edbng xanh, b\u1ec1n v\u1eefng trong \u0111\u00f3 xu h\u01b0\u1edbng chuy\u1ec3n \u0111\u1ed5i t\u1ea5t y\u1ebfu l\u00e0 kh\u1edfi nghi\u1ec7p xanh. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Kh\u1edfi nghi\u1ec7p xanh v\u00e0 xu h\u01b0\u1edbng kh\u1edfi nghi\u1ec7p xanh ng\u00e0y nay <\/strong>
Theo Lotfi v\u00e0 c\u1ed9ng s\u1ef1 (2018), kh\u1edfi nghi\u1ec7p xanh l\u00e0 s\u1ef1 t\u00edch h\u1ee3p gi\u1eefa c\u00e1c l\u1ee3i \u00edch kinh doanh, m\u00f4i tr\u01b0\u1eddng v\u00e0 x\u00e3 h\u1ed9i trong kinh doanh \u0111\u1ec3 \u0111\u1ea1t \u0111\u01b0\u1ee3c kh\u1ea3 n\u0103ng c\u1ea1nh tranh v\u01b0\u1ee3t tr\u1ed9i. Kh\u1edfi nghi\u1ec7p xanh l\u00e0 c\u00e1ch \u0111\u1ec3 c\u00e1c doanh nh\u00e2n kh\u1edfi nghi\u1ec7p v\u1eeba gi\u1ea3i quy\u1ebft nh\u1eefng th\u00e1ch th\u1ee9c c\u1ee7a m\u00f4i tr\u01b0\u1eddng m\u00e0 th\u1ebf gi\u1edbi \u0111ang ph\u1ea3i \u0111\u1ed1i m\u1eb7t v\u1eeba \u0111\u1ec3 t\u1ef1 t\u1ea1o nh\u1eefng c\u01a1 h\u1ed9i kinh t\u1ebf cho b\u1ea3n th\u00e2n v\u00e0 c\u1ed9ng \u0111\u1ed3ng (Ali v\u00e0 c\u1ed9ng s\u1ef1, 2023). M\u1ed9t c\u00f4ng tr\u00ecnh nghi\u00ean c\u1ee9u kh\u00e1c g\u1ea7n \u0111\u00e2y c\u0169ng vi\u1ebft v\u1ec1 s\u1ef1 k\u1ebft h\u1ee3p gi\u1eefa kinh doanh v\u00e0 m\u00f4i tr\u01b0\u1eddng n\u00e0y. Theo nghi\u00ean c\u1ee9u v\u1ec1 khung l\u00fd thuy\u1ebft c\u1ee7a kh\u1edfi nghi\u1ec7p xanh v\u00e0 ph\u00e1t tri\u1ec3n b\u1ec1n v\u1eefng (Gupta v\u00e0 Dharwal, 2022), kh\u1edfi nghi\u1ec7p xanh k\u1ebft h\u1ee3p tinh th\u1ea7n kinh doanh v\u1edbi s\u1ef1 \u0111\u1ec1 cao t\u00ednh b\u1ec1n v\u1eefng v\u00e0 xu th\u1ebf xanh. Do \u0111\u00f3, kh\u1edfi nghi\u1ec7p xanh \u0111\u00e3 g\u00f3p ph\u1ea7n bi\u1ebfn c\u00e1c c\u00f4ng ty th\u01b0\u01a1ng m\u1ea1i thu\u1ea7n t\u00fay tr\u1edf th\u00e0nh t\u1ed5 ch\u1ee9c kinh doanh v\u00ec c\u1ed9ng \u0111\u1ed3ng nh\u1eb1m b\u1ea3o t\u1ed3n v\u00e0 duy tr\u00ec m\u00f4i tr\u01b0\u1eddng.
Qua c\u00e1c nghi\u00ean c\u1ee9u c\u1ee7a c\u00e1c t\u00e1c gi\u1ea3, kh\u1edfi nghi\u1ec7p xanh l\u00e0 vi\u1ec7c m\u1ed9t doanh nghi\u1ec7p hay c\u00e1 nh\u00e2n thu l\u1ee3i \u00edch kinh doanh d\u1ef1a tr\u00ean vi\u1ec7c h\u00ecnh th\u00e0nh nh\u1eefng s\u1ea3n ph\u1ea9m, c\u00f4ng ngh\u1ec7 g\u00f3p ph\u1ea7n duy tr\u00ec v\u00e0 b\u1ea3o t\u1ed3n m\u00f4i tr\u01b0\u1eddng, t\u1ea1o n\u00ean nh\u1eefng t\u00e1c \u0111\u1ed9ng t\u00edch c\u1ef1c \u0111\u1ebfn m\u00f4i tr\u01b0\u1eddng v\u00e0 x\u00e3 h\u1ed9i. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

G\u1ea7n 80% nh\u00e0 \u0111\u1ea7u t\u01b0 to\u00e0n c\u1ea7u c\u00e2n nh\u1eafc \u0111\u1ea7u t\u01b0 v\u00e0o c\u00e1c c\u00f4ng ty t\u1eadp trung \u0111\u1ebfn t\u00e1c \u0111\u1ed9ng m\u00f4i tr\u01b0\u1eddng, x\u00e3 h\u1ed9i v\u00e0 qu\u1ea3n tr\u1ecb doanh nghi\u1ec7p kh\u1edfi nghi\u1ec7p xanh \u0111ang l\u00e0 ti\u00eau \u0111i\u1ec3m thu h\u00fat \u0111\u1ea7u t\u01b0 (M\u1ea1ng l\u01b0\u1edbi ki\u1ec3m to\u00e1n to\u00e0n c\u1ea7u PwC, 2022). Ngu\u1ed3n v\u1ed1n \u0111\u1ea7u t\u01b0 cho kh\u1edfi nghi\u1ec7p xanh c\u00f3 xu h\u01b0\u1edbng t\u0103ng li\u00ean ti\u1ebfp \u1edf Vi\u1ec7t Nam. So v\u1edbi kh\u1edfi nghi\u1ec7p l\u0129nh v\u1ef1c kh\u00e1c, kh\u1edfi nghi\u1ec7p xanh c\u00f3 \u01b0u th\u1ebf s\u1edf h\u1eefu c\u00e1c d\u00f2ng t\u00e0i tr\u1ee3 v\u1eefng ch\u1eafc t\u1eeb ch\u00ednh ph\u1ee7, t\u1ed5 ch\u1ee9c phi ch\u00ednh ph\u1ee7, t\u1ed5 ch\u1ee9c qu\u1ed1c t\u1ebf, l\u1eabn c\u00e1c ch\u01b0\u01a1ng tr\u00ecnh CSR c\u1ee7a c\u00e1c t\u1eadp \u0111o\u00e0n, doanh nghi\u1ec7p l\u1edbn\u2026 (Vi\u1ec7n Nghi\u00ean c\u1ee9u qu\u1ea3n l\u00fd ph\u00e1t tri\u1ec3n b\u1ec1n v\u1eefng, 2023<\/em>).
S\u1ef1 ph\u00e1t tri\u1ec3n c\u1ee7a kh\u1edfi nghi\u1ec7p xanh l\u00e0 d\u1ea5u hi\u1ec7u t\u00edch c\u1ef1c trong s\u1ef1 ph\u00e1t tri\u1ec3n kinh t\u1ebf v\u00e0 l\u00e0 bi\u1ec3u t\u01b0\u1ee3ng c\u1ee7a s\u1ef1 cam k\u1ebft b\u1ea3o v\u1ec7 m\u00f4i tr\u01b0\u1eddng (BVMT) v\u00e0 x\u00e2y d\u1ef1ng m\u1ed9t t\u01b0\u01a1ng lai b\u1ec1n v\u1eefng. C\u00e1c startup xanh kh\u00f4ng ch\u1ec9 \u0111\u00f3ng g\u00f3p cho s\u1ef1 ph\u00e1t tri\u1ec3n KTXH m\u00e0 c\u00f2n t\u1ea1o ra nh\u1eefng gi\u1ea3i ph\u00e1p s\u00e1ng t\u1ea1o v\u00e0 hi\u1ec7u qu\u1ea3 cho c\u00e1c v\u1ea5n \u0111\u1ec1 m\u00f4i tr\u01b0\u1eddng, gi\u1ea3m thi\u1ec3u t\u00e1c \u0111\u1ed9ng ti\u00eau c\u1ef1c \u0111\u1ebfn c\u1ed9ng \u0111\u1ed3ng x\u00e3 h\u1ed9i.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Xu h\u01b0\u1edbng kh\u1edfi nghi\u1ec7p xanh l\u00e0 m\u1ed9t trong nh\u1eefng ch\u00eca kh\u00f3a quan tr\u1ecdng c\u1ee7a chuy\u1ec3n \u0111\u1ed5i sinh th\u00e1i x\u00e3 h\u1ed9i theo h\u01b0\u1edbng b\u1ec1n v\u1eefng <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

V\u1eady t\u1ea1i sao ng\u00e0y nay kh\u1edfi nghi\u1ec7p xanh l\u1ea1i quan tr\u1ecdng nh\u1ea5t l\u00e0 trong qu\u00e1 tr\u00ecnh chuy\u1ec3n \u0111\u1ed5i sinh th\u00e1i x\u00e3 h\u1ed9i theo h\u01b0\u1edbng b\u1ec1n v\u1eefng? <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kh\u1edfi nghi\u1ec7p xanh th\u1ec3 hi\u1ec7n vai tr\u00f2 quan tr\u1ecdng v\u00e0 l\u00e0 m\u1ed9t trong nh\u1eefng ch\u00eca qu\u00e1 c\u1ee7a qu\u00e1 tr\u00ecnh chuy\u1ec3n \u0111\u1ed5i sinh th\u00e1i x\u00e3 h\u1ed9i theo h\u01b0\u1edbng b\u1ec1n v\u1eefng l\u00e0 b\u1edfi: 
– Kh\u1edfi nghi\u1ec7p xanh g\u00f3p ph\u1ea7n gi\u1ea3i quy\u1ebft c\u00e1c th\u00e1ch th\u1ee9c m\u00f4i tr\u01b0\u1eddng: C\u00e1c m\u00f4 h\u00ecnh kh\u1edfi nghi\u1ec7p xanh th\u01b0\u1eddng t\u1eadp trung v\u00e0o vi\u1ec7c t\u1ea1o ra c\u00e1c gi\u1ea3i ph\u00e1p s\u00e1ng t\u1ea1o cho c\u00e1c v\u1ea5n \u0111\u1ec1 m\u00f4i tr\u01b0\u1eddng nh\u01b0 bi\u1ebfn \u0111\u1ed5i kh\u00ed h\u1eadu, \u00f4 nhi\u1ec5m, c\u1ea1n ki\u1ec7t t\u00e0i nguy\u00ean. \u0110i\u1ec3n h\u00ecnh trong s\u1ed1 \u0111\u00f3, c\u00f4ng ty SolarBK l\u00e0 m\u1ed9t trong nh\u1eefng doanh nghi\u1ec7p ti\u00ean phong trong l\u0129nh v\u1ef1c n\u0103ng l\u01b0\u1ee3ng m\u1eb7t tr\u1eddi t\u1ea1i Vi\u1ec7t Nam, cung c\u1ea5p c\u00e1c gi\u1ea3i ph\u00e1p \u0111i\u1ec7n m\u1eb7t tr\u1eddi \u00e1p m\u00e1i cho h\u1ed9 gia \u0111\u00ecnh v\u00e0 doanh nghi\u1ec7p. At the same time, in the face of changing consumer trends, people tend to choose environmentally friendly products, care about green consumption, green products, not only save money but also consider what they think is safe, quality and non-polluting. According to the results of the 2024 Green Consumer Awareness and Behavior survey, up to 59% of consumers said they will increase the use of green products and green consumption in the coming time (Association of High-Quality Vietnamese Goods Enterprises, 2024). This shows the potential for transforming social ecology towards green and sustainability, in which the inevitable transformation trend is green startups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Green startups and green startup trends today<\/strong>
    According to Lotfi et al. (2018), green entrepreneurship is the integration of business, environmental and social benefits in business to achieve superior competitiveness. Green entrepreneurship is a way for entrepreneurs to both solve the environmental challenges that the world is facing and create economic opportunities for themselves and the community (Ali et al., 2023). Another recent study also writes about this combination of business and environment. According to the study on the theoretical framework of green entrepreneurship and sustainable development (Gupta and Dharwal, 2022), green entrepreneurship combines the entrepreneurial spirit with the promotion of sustainability and green trends. Therefore, green entrepreneurship has contributed to turning purely commercial companies into community-based business organizations to preserve and maintain the environment. Through the authors’ research, green entrepreneurship is when a business or individual gains business benefits based on the creation of products and technologies that contribute to maintaining and preserving the environment, creating positive impacts on the environment and society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Green startups are the focus of attracting investment (PwC Global Audit Network, 2022). Investment capital for green startups tends to increase continuously in Vietnam. Compared to startups in other fields, green startups have the advantage of having solid funding streams from the government, non-governmental organizations, international organizations, and CSR programs of large corporations and enterprises… ( Institute for Sustainable Development Management Research, 2023 ).
    The development of green startups is a positive sign in economic development and a symbol of commitment to environmental protection and building a sustainable future. Green startups not only contribute to socio-economic development but also create innovative and effective solutions to environmental problems, minimizing negative impacts on the social community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    2. Green entrepreneurship is one of the important keys to sustainable socio-ecological transformation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    So why is green entrepreneurship so important today, especially in the process of socio-ecological transformation towards sustainability?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Green startups play an important role and are one of the keys to the process of socio-ecological transformation towards sustainability because:
    – Green startups contribute to solving environmental challenges: Green startup models often focus on creating innovative solutions to environmental problems such as climate change, pollution, and resource depletion. Typically, SolarBK is one of the pioneers in the field of solar energy in Vietnam, providing rooftop solar power solutions for households and businesses. The use of solar energy helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and dependence on fossil energy sources. In particular, SolarBK has implemented national key projects on clean energy and lighting in the Truong Sa archipelago, marking an important milestone in bringing clean energy to Vietnam’s sea and island areas. Since 2009, the company has deployed wind and solar power systems on 48 islands and platforms in the Spratly Islands, with more than 5,700 solar panels, 130 wind turbines and nearly 1,000 LED lights. The system provides about 5.2 MWh of electricity per day, saving hundreds of thousands of liters of diesel and significantly reducing CO2 emissions annually (VietNamNet, 2019). This project has significantly improved the quality of life for soldiers and civilians on the island, replacing the limited power supply from diesel generators. In particular, SolarBK has successfully developed a seawater filtration system using clean energy on Song Tu Tay Island – Truong Sa. This project uses 22.5 kWp of solar energy to produce about 18m3 of clean fresh water per day, helping to solve the serious problem of fresh water shortage for soldiers and people on the island, especially in the dry season. This system is capable of filtering 250 liters of fresh water per hour from seawater and operates completely independently thanks to 100% clean energy from wind and sun. Organic farms such as Son Ba Muoi Organic Farm (Thanh Hoa) are typical examples of unique organic farm projects, bringing income and value to the whole community. The organic vegetable growing model also attracts many tourists to experience harvesting clean vegetables, enjoy them right in the garden, and enjoy the clean green air in Son Ba Muoi village. Organizations such as USAID, GIZ, UNDP regularly have support, consulting and connection programs for green startups in Vietnam, helping them access technology, knowledge and international markets.
    The trend of green startups is also promoted by the Net Zero target that many countries in the world, including Vietnam, have committed to. To achieve this goal, there needs to be continuous innovation from businesses, especially startups, in developing low-carbon technologies, circular economic solutions and sustainable business models. According to a report by the World Bank, the transition to a green economy could create 24 million new jobs globally by 2030 and help reduce 10 billion tons of carbon emissions each year.     Potential areas of green startups today include:<\/em><\/strong>
    – Renewable energy: Solar power, wind power, small hydropower, biomass.
    – Sustainable agriculture: Organic agriculture, high-tech agriculture, solutions to reduce agricultural waste.
    – Waste management and recycling: Models for collecting, sorting and recycling waste, manufacturing products from recycled materials.
    – Green transportation: Electric vehicles, public bicycles, smart transportation solutions to reduce emissions.

    According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, Vietnam’s innovative startup ecosystem currently has more than 4,000 innovative startups, including 2 unicorns, 11 businesses valued at more than 100 million USD, more than 1,400 startup support organizations, 202 co-working spaces; 208 investment funds; 35 business promotion organizations. Of these, it is estimated that about 200 – 300 businesses focus on green transformation, including areas such as renewable energy, environmental technology, sustainable agriculture and circular economy.     3. Current opportunities and challenges in the green startup process in Vietnam today<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    3.1. About opportunities<\/em>
    One is, consumers are increasingly interested in environmentally friendly products and services. This change in perception creates a large market for clean agricultural products, renewable energy, biomaterials, waste management solutions, and other green services. At the same time, the development of science and technology, especially digital technology, artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and biotechnology, opens up many opportunities to create innovative and effective green solutions. Startups can take advantage of technology to optimize production processes, minimize environmental impact, and improve product quality.
    Second , currently, preferential policies, financial support and incentive programs for green startups are increasingly expanding. In particular, Decision No. 1658\/QD-TTg dated October 1, 2021 of the Prime Minister approving the National Strategy on Green Growth for the period 2021 – 2030, with a vision to 2050 sets specific goals on greening production, promoting the use of clean energy, and encouraging sustainable consumption, creating a favorable legal framework for green startups. Decision No. 687\/QD-TTg dated June 7, 2022 of the Prime Minister approving the Circular Economy Development Project in Vietnam contributes to orienting the development of the economy towards a closed direction, optimizing resources and minimizing waste, promoting many potential areas for startups to innovate in recycling, reusing and converting waste into resources. These policies not only demonstrate the government\u2019s strong commitment but also serve as a basis for local agencies to develop specific support programs, including financial support funds, tax incentives, and market connections for green businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises. The synchronization of policies from the central to local levels creates a favorable ecosystem, making it easier for green startups to access resources and develop sustainable business models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Third, <\/em>investment funds, international organizations and individual investors are increasingly interested in projects with positive social and environmental impacts. This makes it easier for green startups to access capital. The trend of socially responsible investing (SRI) and impact investing (Impact Investing) is becoming increasingly popular, promoting capital flows into businesses that address environmental and social challenges. International organizations such as the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) have mobilized and allocated resources for green projects globally, including Vietnam. In addition, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank, is also actively funding green projects in Vietnam. Typically, IFC acquired green and blue bonds issued by SEABank, worth USD 75 million in June 2024, demonstrating the commitment of these organizations to promoting green finance in Vietnam (VCCI, 2024). Green bonds are bonds issued to raise capital for projects or assets that bring positive benefits to the environment and climate. By providing a financial channel for green projects, green bonds contribute significantly to the transition of the economy to a greener, lower-carbon growth model. In addition, blue bonds are a specialized segment of green bonds, focusing on raising capital for projects related to the conservation and sustainable development of marine and ocean resources. Capital from blue bonds is used to protect marine ecosystems, manage marine resources sustainably and support the blue economy. Blue bonds are an important financial tool to develop marine economic sectors in a sustainable manner, minimizing negative impacts on the marine environment while still creating economic value.
    In Vietnam, many venture capital funds and impact investment funds have been focusing on the green sector. Funds such as Earth Venture Capital (EVC) identify investing in and supporting green technology startups in Vietnam as a solution to combat climate change, with the goal of bringing sustainable prosperity. ITI Fund is also a fund interested in green startups, having invested in industrial park rooftop solar power system projects and the “Green World” project. Although specific figures on total investment capital in green startups in Vietnam are limited, a report by Bain & Company, GenZero, Google, Standard Chartered and Temasek published in May 2025 shows that green investment from the private sector in Vietnam will reach more than 160 million USD by 2024, accounting for about 2% of total investment of the SEA-6 group (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam). The report also found that the energy sector continued to account for two-thirds of total green investment in the region, with solar energy recording the largest increase in investment (100%), while transactions in the waste management sector increased by 60% year-on-year ( Vneconomy, 2025 ).
    This trend has promoted the emergence of green financial products such as green bonds and green credits, creating more favorable conditions for green startups to access diverse sources of capital to realize their ideas and projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    3.2. About challenges<\/em>
    Green startups, despite their potential, still face significant challenges that can hinder the growth of young businesses in this field. One of the biggest challenges is finance and high initial investment. Many green projects, especially those related to clean technology, renewable energy, or sustainable infrastructure, require huge investment capital for research, development, and implementation. The payback period for these projects is often longer than traditional business models, which can make some investors hesitant, especially those looking for quick profits ( UNDP Viet Nam, 2023).
    In addition, green products and services are often produced using more environmentally friendly processes, using sustainable materials or advanced technology, resulting in higher production costs. This makes their selling price in the market often higher than similar products but produced in the traditional way. Although consumers are increasingly concerned about environmental factors, the price factor is still a major barrier. Convincing customers to pay more for “green value” is a difficult problem that startups need to solve through effective communication and creating a clearly differentiated value.
    Although Vietnam has issued many policies to encourage green growth, the implementation and concretization of regulations are sometimes slow or unclear, causing difficulties for businesses in the process of operating and expanding. Complicated administrative procedures, lack of detailed guidance or overlap between legal documents can discourage startups and hinder the development of green projects (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, 2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The green startup journey, despite many bumps and challenges, is truly lighting up dreams of a more sustainable future for Vietnam and other countries around the world. From meeting the growing market demand for environmentally friendly products to taking advantage of preferential policies and green investment capital, all factors converge to turn challenges into breakthrough opportunities. Green startups are not simply profit-seeking businesses, but also pioneers in solving urgent environmental problems, from climate change to waste pollution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
