It is not just about identifying urgent ecological problems, but also a fundamental shift in worldview, requiring people to understand the complexity and interdependence of natural and social systems, and to promote individual and collective responsibility for creating long-term, systemic solutions.

Green thinking at its core involves applying systems thinking to identify the interconnections and feedback loops in environmental problems (Meadows, 2008), developing eco-literacy to understand how nature works (Orr, 2004), and committing to the precautionary principle in all decisions that have the potential to impact the environment. It also involves a shift to a more balanced view that respects the intrinsic value of nature and the right of future generations to a healthy environment (Naess & Rothenberg, 1989).

Think Green
(Link: Akevergreen, https://akevergreen.com/V2/2018/11/26/why-should-inventors-think-green/)

The urgency of forming and spreading green thinking becomes undeniable in the context of humanity facing a series of multi-layered ecological crises, climate change, etc., which are threatening the stability of natural and social systems globally. These crises are not accidental but the inevitable consequence of a way of thinking and acting that prioritizes short-term economic growth, over-exploitation of resources and externalization of environmental costs. It is in this context that green thinking is the essential driving force for a sustainable ecological transition.

The sustainable ecological transition is not simply a matter of individual technical or policy measures, but a profound restructuring of production , consumption, governance, and cultural values, towards a just, prosperous, and sustainable society that operates within the carrying capacity of the planet (Sievers-Glotzbach & Tschersich, 2019). Green thinking is the catalyst for this transformation by:

First , change the value system and worldview, shifting from considering nature as an endless resource to exploit to seeing humans as an organic part of nature, dependent on and responsible for nature. Green living starts with green thinking, influencing and changing human behavior, especially in the perspective of consumption. For example, when shopping, prioritize choosing products with sustainable certification, such as consumer goods labeled “eco” or “recycled” , practice “4T” (refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle ); classify waste at source , including: organic waste, inorganic waste, hazardous waste (broken batteries, accumulators, fluorescent lamps, etc.) . In the business sector, enterprises are increasingly aware that sustainable development is not only a social responsibility (CSR) but also a competitive advantage, leading to the emergence of business strategies that integrate environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors, build green supply chains and develop environmentally friendly products and services. In urban planning, green thinking promotes sustainable city models with prioritized green spaces, efficient public transport systems, energy-efficient buildings and advanced waste management. Education plays a key role in instilling green thinking early, by integrating ecology, climate change and sustainable development into the curriculum at all levels, to equip future generations with the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to create a sustainable future (Orr, 2004; Sterling, 2003). At the individual level, green thinking is reflected in conscious consumer choices, reducing waste, saving energy, supporting local and organic products, and actively participating in community activities for the environment.

However, the widespread adoption and adoption of green thinking still faces significant challenges. Economic models – Traditional societies, built on the foundation of resource exploitation and unlimited growth, create great inertia that hinders change (Jackson, 2017). Consumerism, fueled by advertising and social pressure, also contributes to maintaining unsustainable production and consumption habits. In addition, insufficient environmental education and fragmentation in policy efforts are obstacles. Therefore, nurturing and developing green thinking is an ongoing process, requiring strong commitment and synchronous solutions from many sides: from reforming the education system, enhancing communication to raise awareness, building appropriate incentive and sanction policies, to promoting social dialogue and creating spaces for cooperation and innovation for the goal of sustainable ecological transition. Only when green thinking becomes a mainstream in the awareness and action of the whole society can the transition to a fair, prosperous and harmonious future with nature become a reality.

REFERENCES

Capra, F.
