Aiming at sustainable agriculture, Low-waste technology provides an effective solution to develop the agricultural sector while ensuring safety for the environment and human health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Developing high-tech agriculture and innovating science and technology are considered one of the key and central solutions. Applying science and technology to solve challenges in agricultural development with the advantages of technologies such as: Biotechnology, greenhouse technology, drip irrigation technology, sensor technology, automation, Internet of Things, etc. helps agricultural production save costs, increase productivity, reduce prices and improve the quality of agricultural products, and protect the environment. On the other hand, high-tech agriculture helps farmers be proactive in production, overcome seasonality, reduce dependence on weather and climate, and meet market demand for quality agricultural products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Fully aware of this issue, in recent years, our Party and State have continuously supplemented and improved policies and strategies for Low-waste technology development, aiming to promote the application of science and technology in production. In particular, policies and strategies to accelerate research, transfer and application of scientific and technological achievements in agricultural production have received special attention. At the 13th National Congress (2021), in the context of the new situation, our Party affirmed the policy: “Strongly develop science – technology and innovation to create breakthroughs in productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Regarding agriculture, the Congress pointed out: \u201cPromote agricultural restructuring\u2026 develop large-scale, concentrated commodity agriculture in a modern direction, specialized areas for high-quality commodities. Strongly develop high-tech agriculture, organic agriculture, ecological agriculture, meeting common food safety standards\u2026\u201d. The Party\u2019s viewpoints and policies and the State\u2019s policies and laws are both directional and create a favorable legal environment to promote research and application of Low-waste technology in agricultural production activities in our country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One of the greatest benefits of Low-waste technology in agriculture is its ability to reduce the use of toxic chemicals. The adoption of organic farming methods, such as the use of natural fertilizers and biological controls, not only reduces soil and water pollution but also protects biodiversity. At the same time, Low-waste technology also helps increase the resilience of crops to pests and climate change, thereby ensuring food security. Low-waste technology helps increase agricultural production, meeting the growing demand for food of better quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Low-waste technology also produces large quantities of goods with high and consistent quality. From there, it is possible to participate in the global value chain and trade by meeting the requirements of supply sources as well as product quality according to market criteria and traceability. For local businesses, using Low-waste technology can promote economic growth for the locality and the country as revenue from production increases, bringing great economic benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In terms of employment, Low-waste technology creates more jobs for some segments of the population and startup opportunities for local businesses on the basis of forming new value-added product markets; Creating added value for some local products (including agricultural by-products), forming key specialty products of the country, region and locality (one product per village).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Despite the many benefits, the implementation of Low-waste technology in agriculture also faces a number of challenges. The initial investment costs for new technology can be high, especially for smallholder farmers. In addition, many farmers still lack the knowledge and skills needed to effectively adopt Low-waste technology. Therefore, support from governments and NGOs in providing training and information is needed to help farmers overcome these barriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In fact, accelerating research and using Low-waste technology in production has greatly contributed to the development of Vietnam’s agricultural sector. According to the assessment of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Low-waste technology contributes over 30% of added value in agricultural production, and 38% in the field of plant and animal breed production. This has contributed to improving the productivity, quality and competitiveness of agricultural products and goods in the domestic and international markets. In the period 2016 – 2021, the total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products of Vietnam increased rapidly, reaching 238.81 billion USD, an average of more than 39.8 billion USD\/year, and in 2021 alone reaching 48.6 billion USD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In addition, the application of Good Agricultural Practices (VietGAP) is increasingly widespread and effective, bringing safe, high-quality, and high-yield products. It can be seen that Low-waste technology in agriculture plays an important role in implementing VietGAP standards. At the same time, VietGAP also plays a role in facilitating Vietnamese agricultural products to penetrate international markets. The quality of products using Low-waste technology is improved, thereby increasing competitiveness in the market. Consumers increasingly demand safe products, so the combination of VietGAP and Low-waste technology helps meet this need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Looking to the future, Low-waste technology is seen as the key to building sustainable agriculture. With the development of technology and increasing awareness of environmental protection, the agricultural sector has great opportunities to improve efficiency and minimize negative impacts on the environment. Cooperation between stakeholders, including farmers, businesses and governments, will be a decisive factor in promoting the application of Low-waste technology in agriculture. Low-waste technology towards sustainable agriculture not only brings economic benefits to farmers but also contributes to environmental protection and food security.
